COMMUNITY RELATIONS

BAHV members –builders, developers, and associates – are vital members of not only the Hudson Valley “Building” Community, but also the community at large. They volunteer on local fire departments, ambulance corps, church and school programs, coaching soccer and baseball, etc.

As an Association, we have also participated in many programs over the years, building handicap ramps, gazebos for daycare centers, storage garages to house bicycles, and so much more.

The last Saturday in April marks the “Rebuilding Together – Dutchess” program (formerly known as Christmas in April), where repairs and upgrades on homes for needy seniors, or special needs households are completed in a one-day building marathon.

In June 2006, the BAHV built two complete homes as part of the BAHV – Habitat for Humanity Builder Blitz. Photos of this event can be seen in the photo gallery. All of the hundreds of volunteers agreed that it was a very special event, and the gratitude of the two families is something that will stay with us forever.

The BAHV also marked October “Community Service Month” encouraging members to do something for their local communities. They pick the project, we help promote their efforts.
